Tim & Diane Bannister - Kenya

Effective August 1, Tim and Diane Bannister will be CBM personnel, serving primarily in administration and short-term ministry. They were previously co-appointed by CBM in 2000 as missionaries with AIM (Africa Inland Mission) for ministry at Rift Valley Academy, Kenya.
Tim was born in Moncton, NB. His father was a pastor and Tim grew up having frequent missionary guests in the home. Tim came to faith and was baptized at the age of 12. He was involved in youth ministry, summer camp, and music during his high school and college years. Tim is a graduate of the University of New Brunswick (B.Ed. and B.Sc. Biology) and studied at Atlantic Baptist University (formerly Atlantic Baptist College) for one year.
Diane was born in Stanley, NB, but grew up in Kenya where her missionary parents served for many years at Rift Valley Academy. Diane came to faith in Christ in elementary school and was baptized in Kenya. From her early teens she felt called to mission work in a nursing ministry and worked as a volunteer at the local church-operated hospital. She returned to New Brunswick in 1979 and did her nursing degree at the University of New Brunswick (B.Sc.). She also studied Bible at Atlantic Baptist University.
Tim and Diane met at university where they both served on the executive of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Tim had felt called to mission work in Africa from the time he was a child, and Diane had always felt that the Lord wanted her to serve Him in Africa. In 1987, they were appointed for service by Africa Inland Mission, and were asked to work with missionary kids, Kenyan nationals and expatriates at Rift Valley Academy. Diane has worked as a nurse, teacher, dorm mom, and patient liaison for maternity patients in the local hospital-a project which she started at the request of the Kijabe Hospital administration to provide assistance for maternity patients. Tim is an English and Science teacher, and has also been a dorm dad. Recently, he has been very involved in a reforestation project around the mission compound and beyond, and also assists in AIDS ministries.
Tim and Diane are avid campers, an activity which they enjoy with their four children, Chelsea, Connie, Cody, and Caleb.
