Jim and Diane McBeth - Angola

Jim and Diane McBeth were appointed by CBM in February of 2004 for service to Angola. Jim serves in leadership development, teaching at the ITECA Bible School in Cabinda, while Diane uses her business background and ministry gifts to work with the women of the IEA.
Jim was born and raised in London, Ontario, and came to faith in Christ at the age of 20, after getting involved in a Christian youth ministry. Diane was born in Montreal, and subsequently lived with her family in Winnipeg, Toronto and London. She first came to Christ at the age of 13, when she started attending People’s Church in Toronto. In 1974, Jim and Diane both became actively involved at King Street United Church, in London, and were married in 1976.
In 1978, Jim received a call into pastoral ministry and enrolled at the University of Western Ontario, where he and Diane got involved in ministry with the Navigators. In 1980 they moved to Toronto, and Jim graduated from Ontario Theological Seminary (now Tyndale) in 1983. Jim and Diane have since served in three BCOQ churches: Immanuel, Toronto; Inniswood, Barrie; and Harmony, in Hamilton.
The McBeths went to Mozambique for a month-long mission trip in the summer of 2001, and helped in an orphanage in Zimpeto. Diane has since been back to Mozambique twice. They feel a strong call to serve in Africa in the areas of leadership training and community development.
Jim enjoys playing piano and guitar, and working on the computer. Diane has taught folk art painting classes, and enjoys cooking and painting. The McBeths have 5 children, Ryan, Nicole, Renee, Amy and Pedrito. The two youngest will accompany them to Angola while the three grown children will remain in Canada.
